The 'O' Family came to me from a fundraiser auction and I was so excited to finally get to meet someone who won a session by supporting one of our local schools! We had an amazing day in Monterey, the weather was beautiful and the location was so special location for portraits because it was where they were Married!
As mom's, we are always trying to make sure we photographer the important things, and those adorable moments. If you were to go back through the last 5 years of photos, how many are you actually in? I would put money down that it is less than 10%. Now how many of you (in your heads) just said, but I looked terrible that day, or I will take pictures with them when I lose 5 more pounds? (Be Honest!) Well, guess what? Your kids don't care! You will end up with a lot of photos of your children for yourselves, but how many photos of you will your kids get to keep for themselves? NOW is the time ladies! This Mommy took advantage and look at the adorable results she and her baby will have forever!
This week on "The Adventures of a Family Photographer" we get to take a look into what it is like to be a Family and Children's Photographer! When your co-workers are toddlers and elementary school aged children, it means you never know what is going to happen. You have to be able to think on your feet, and when things don't go according to all your careful planning, you have to be able to improvise and keep it FUN! This was just the case during the 'H' Family Photo Shoot.
No Matter how many times I ask this question, the answer remains along the same lines ... "When is the last time you and your husband had a portrait done?" (awkward side glance, pursed lips) "Uummmmm ... At our Wedding ...????" The actual wording might change, but this is pretty accurate for about 90% of my families. Which makes it all the more important to me to make sure I take a few minutes (while the kids run amok) and get some photos of mom and dad, NOT being mom and dad! Years may have passed, appearance may have begun to change, but put Mom and Dad in that first pose and you can see their beginning all over again.
